Value the Estate

Before you can begin the probate process you need to value the deceased estate.

1. Obtain written closing balances of all bank/building society

accounts including ISAS and any other investments.

2. Ask three local estate agents for a written ‘probate valuation’ of the property.

3. Obtain written valuations of any specific items worth more than £5000

4. Estimate value of goods and chattels (£5000 is a regular estimate for estates in the £500,000 bracket)
