Before you can begin the probate process you need to value the deceased estate.
1. Obtain written closing balances of all bank/building society
accounts including ISAS and any other investments.
2. Ask three local estate agents for a written ‘probate valuation’ of the property.
3. Obtain written valuations of any specific items worth more than £5000
4. Estimate value of goods and chattels (£5000 is a regular estimate for estates in the £500,000 bracket)
