Prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA)

Paper application

Whilst the governments Power of Attorney website allows you to make an online application, it is MyLegalSafeGuards’ belief that a paper application has advantages.

An LPA has to be registered with the Office of the Public Guadian before it can be used. However, you don’t need to register it until you need to use it, but the documents must be completed, signed and witnessed whilst you have mental capacity.

When making an online application you have to register the document at the same time. By using a paper application you can prepare, sign and witness the documents while you have mental capacity and then store them in a safe place.

This means that if you need to change any of the details on the documents you can do so via the dashboard without incurring any costs. If the LPA is already registered, this is not the case.

There are two types of LPA:

one for financial affairs,

 one for health/welfare.
